Last year, AG interviewed a band known as Fallen Chains. (They're the ones who wrote a song entitled "The Girl in the Jean Skirt"- dedicated to Pentecostal girls, and the stand they take for holiness!) Our editor got to hang with the band and ask them a few questions about what they've been up to. Check it out!

*SH: Shenae Huba  *JC- Joe Campbell  *DB- Daniel Badger  *DV- David Badger

SH: So guys, since your last interview, what are some changes that you have made as a band?

DB: Wow. Our last interview. Seems so long ago. One major thing which has changed was the distance between band members. I followed a vocational lead which required me to move four hours north of the other hoodlums. This obviously is rough at times but David and Joe might possibly be moving to the same area this next year.

DV: Our band has really matured musically since our first interview. We have worked to produce a much tighter sound and continually striving for a good clean sound has been our primary goal. We still enjoy being a blessing at small youth events but it is also very exciting to be playing bigger venues such as district youth events.

JC: I think one of the biggest changes with the band has been a slow one. Our style seems to be changing slowly and I don't know where. Fallen Chains was originally an acoustic balled style band, almost like Jars of Clay's first CD. We changed and changed and grew into a more
rocky/pop-punk style, I don't know where we are right now style wise but David said that we should define ourselves.

Boys will be boys...                              Shenae joining in on the fun...
SH: Since your first CD, you have recently come out with a second project. Tell us a little more about it.

DB: Our latest EP "Drive" was inspired by the 2005 Youth Camp. It was the first time we actually had to ever meet a real deadline. We recorded it in a basement studio in Milwaukee. The producer was an engineer friend of my dad. He had two giant parrots which was a little weird, but to add to it, he had a scary similarity to Kip of Napoleon Dynamite. For a majority of the recording he let his giant parrots roam through the equipment while we were playing. The parrots did have fairly good taste in music though; they would sway back and forth really quickly to the music. Their favorite songs were Jean Skirt and Going Home.

DV: Our second demo was  hastily thrown together before a big show last
Christmas and we didn't exactly get to concentrate on the quality of the
recordings. So I believe this second CD was inspired by the need to get our music in circulation.

SH: Out of all of your songs, what would have to be your favorite?

DB: Lighthouse would have to be my favorite. I've always had a thing about the sea and its complements. The analogy of our Lord and Savior being our lighthouse has been a soft spot in my heart for quite some time.

JC: Lighthouse-no question. The way Dan rocks out on his bass in the song reminds me of why I love being in the band so much.

AG: We asked this question on your last interview, but since this interview is themed a "Blast from the Past", what is a memory, funny moment, or special time that you will always remember from this past year?

JC: Two moments which I distinctly remember have touched this band in a great way. Around a year ago Fallen Chains covered the music at a youth rally in Sun Prairie, WI. That night when we were playing for alter
call over 11 youths received the Holy Ghost! It was also great to minister at three conventions that Mark Johnston preached in and it touched us when he personally thanked Dan, David and I on the last night
of HYC in Florida.

DV: Well Shenae, i do believe my new Blast from the Past memory would
definitely be watching you try to surf at Holiday Youth Convention. Your
lack of a text book style made it rather interesting to watch.

It's a.....fountain?                         Offering gifts of leaves and acorns.
SH: What are Fallen Chain's plans for the future?

DB:Next month we are going to be in the studio. Pounding, pounding, pounding. Hopefully we'll be able to get in and get out without any substantial damage. It will be a compilation of both demos along with some new stuff we've been working on. Keep your ears open for a few goofy hidden tracks. We were debating whether or not we should use kazoos to substitute our voices. Its still up in the air.

DV: Fallen Chains is always looking to the future with plans and dreams of
progression both musically and spiritually. We would like to impact as many as we possibly can and to have a fun time doing it! We would like to keep putting out new music, hopefully getting better and better as we go.
