INTERVIEW
While everyone is celebrating Christmas and New Years, Apostolic Girl will also be celebrating her 2nd Birthday! In honor of this special occasion, we've sat down with our editor and asked a few questions about how the site got started. We've also asked a few questions about her personally so that you can get to know her just a little better. Enjoy!
*AG: Apostolic Girl        *SH: Shenae Huba

AG: First of all, tell us a little bit about yourself.

SH: Well...I'm an 18 year old Senior in High School. I live in Tallahassee, Fl where my parents, Daniel and Tammy Huba, pastor a church. I have two sisters Tiffany (16) and Charity (13).

AG: Aside from Apostolic Girl, what are some other hobbies you enjoy, or other hats you wear?

SH: Outside of this site, I'm very involved in my home church. I teach Sunday School (which I absolutely love), play the piano, sing, work with our youth choir and girls ensemble, and basically anything else that needs to be done. (laughs). Right now I'm heading up our Children's Christmas Musical. I love working for the Lord. Church is what my life revolves around. Then outside of church, school takes up a lot of my time. Like any other Senior, I've stayed busy with SATs, college applications, and etc. And outside of school, I teach piano lessons, love to read, shop, spend time with my family and friends, and every once in awhile...just stay home and maybe take a nap! (laughs)

AG: When exactly did you begin to feel a burden for Apostolic Girl?

SH: Wow! I think I was 15 years old. So it was about 3 years ago. I was looking at a teen magazine when suddenly, I realized that there wasn't really anything inside that related to me. Pictures of ungodly celebrities and models covered the pages. Even the clothing advice and hair tips were useless to me, all coming from worldly perspectives. So I sat with my mom and...well...basically complained. I told her that we needed a Apostolic Magazine for girls. "Wouldn't that be awesome?" I said with enthusiasm. My mom's reply was, "I think that's a great idea. You should do it." Well that wasn't what I was expecting. I was thinking more along the lines of writing a letter to our Youth President and suggesting that headquarters provide one. (laughs) But after much thought and prayer, I felt that it was really something God wanted me to do. Even though a magazine is a future dream, ApostolicGirl.com was the result.

AG: So how exactly did ApostolicGirl.com get started?

SH: Here's the part where I get to thank a bunch of people that played a role in AG's success. My parents of course encouraged me to start the site. It began as a few pages connected to our church website. Then even before it had been up a month, Sis. Andrea Harry from the Ask Andrea page, overheard me discussing the site at Family Camp one year. She was just as excited as I was about getting it up and running and volunteered to help. That's how the whole Ask Andrea page came about! After a few months, Bro. LJ Harry, her husband, helped me set up the official Apostolic Girl site! They both deserve much credit for what the site is today. For the past two years, Sis. Andrea has remained faithful in her support, and I'm constantly bothering Bro. LJ with web site problems. My parents and the Harrys...I love them all and truly appreciate their support.

AG: What has been one of your favorite parts about being editor?

SH: I have been so blessed with this site, simply because of the people that it has put me in contact with. I hear from young girls all over the nation! I've also loved being able to interview the many wonderful ladies that I have. They are all my role models and to be able to ask them questions, and spend time with them, is something I'll always cherish.

AG: What's one piece of advice you'd like to leave with the viewers of Apostolic Girl?

SH: Whether it's designing your own website, singing in the school talent show, or witnessing to a friend...just do it! I've always struggled with sticking my neck out there and following God's leading, especially when there's a possibility of me failing miserably and publicly humiliating myself. But there comes a time when you need to stand up straight with your confidence, not in yourself, but in God, and take that step of faith. I know it might be scary and the road uncertain, but whatever God is wanting you to do, if you'll simply obey, I promise there's no greater joy than the feeling you'll receive after you've accomplished his perfect will.
