Hourglass-large
bust, small waist, and large hips.
This hourglass resembling
body shape, is the one that is most balanced of all shapes. Ladies
possessing this frame tend to have the same width of shoulder and
hips and in between them lies a very well defined waist. The main
thing characterizing this body shape are curves that are created by
its full rounded bust, hips, thighs, tummy, and buttocks.
*
V Necks lengthen the body by drawing the eye down. Wrap around tops
and dresses are also great for an hourglass.
* Fluted, 3/4 length and puff sleeves add proportion to a bust and
torso and flatter bigger arms.
* Uniform colors can be worn by hourglass figures but matt fabrics
look best and stop you from looking ‘too much’. Thin weight woolen
blends are a better option than big thick knits which add unwanted
bulk. Silks and other shiny fabrics should be worn with care.
* Prints down below, from floral to pinstripe will help balance an
hourglass figure. |

Triangle-
narrow shoulders, small waist, and large hips.
Bodies that look like pears which tend to be full & wide at the
bottom and narrow & slim at the top. The top halves posses a small
bust, waist and down sloping shoulders while their lower halves have
comparatively thick hips, thighs and buttocks .
* V neck tops help balance out your shoulders and add
shape to the bust area. Detailed necklines are also a great choice.
Things like beading or pleating across the bust will add shape and
give a fuller effect.
* Darker colors on your bottom half will minimize width and lengthen
the legs. On top keep colors bright and playful. Play around with
shiny fabrics to draw the eye up.
* Wear skirts that cut off below the knee, particularly handkerchief
hems and asymmetric cuts which bring attention to slim calves and
ankles.
* Cinched in waist dresses and empire line styles can hide any
problem areas. |

Cone-Large
bust, thick waist, narrow hips.
Is the body shape that is usually possessed by athletic women.
This frame posses a broad shoulder and bust on a narrow hip and
waist. Thighs are slim and buttocks are flat while the legs and
arms are long, muscular and shapely. Cone shaped ladies carry
most of their weight in their shoulders, busts and backs.
* Darker or solid colors up top will minimize a
larger bust and keep the eye from being drawn to a thicker
waist. Also keep shirts a simpler pattern, avoiding too many
ruffles or folds.
* Keep busy patterns on the lower half to help
draw the eye to the slimmer bottom and balance the heavier top.
Try fuller skirts with ruffles and folds.
* An A-line
skirt will also work well for you. Avoid broad-shouldered and
double-breasted jackets, both of which emphasize the shoulder
line, and tops with drop-shoulders or batwing sleeves.
* Add a
touch that draws the eye downward--an interesting belt that
rests at the hip line, or brightly colored or otherwise visually
interesting shoes. |

Rectangle
- small bust, small waist, narrow hips.
They look as they
are drawn out. This body shape practically resembles a rectangle as
its all straight up and down, front and back with little or no
curves even at the waist. This body shape looks calumnious and boxy
with proportionate upper and lower body halves. Main assets of this
shape is its small bust long and slender arms and legs.
* Anything that creates shape is your best friend
such as pleating, detailing, beading, prints, pleats, silk and
knitwear. All of these items can create curves on the bust and hips
which make them great options for slim girls.
* On the bottom your curves can be enhanced with belts, pocket
detailing as well as a-line and full skirts.
* Little prints, contrasting colors and mixed and
matched prints all add texture, which adds curves in all the right
places.
*A waist can be created in a number of ways, from belts around the
waist to well-cut tailored jackets which flare out just below the
waist.
* Tailored items will always look best on you, whilst boxy items
will just swamp your body. You need tailoring to create form.
* Round toed shoes round the legs off and can stop them looking too
thin. |

Oval-
large bust, thick waist, large hips.
The silhouette of this body shape practically resembles the shape of
an egg. The main characteristics of this body shape is a full upper
body with a full bust and no defined waist that carries most of the
body weight while hips are narrower and slender. This frame has down
sloping shoulders that are narrower than the hips.
*On top keep things tailored. Cinched waist tops and
classically tailored jackets will give you a great form. They will
also create a waist when you are thick around the middle.
Wrap-around tops are your best friend!
* Darker colors on top will minimize and slim the torso whilst
patterns around the bust will bring the eye up toward the chest and
face. Below you can go mad with colors and patterns. Textures like
chiffon and silk are great options.
* When it comes to skirts go for something with a little bit of a
flare or ruffle for balance and make sure to show off your slim
ankles and calves.
* Empire waist dresses will create balance and will disguise any
areas you want to hide. Choose a large bold print to keep all eyes
on you whilst breaking up and slimming the figure. |
