I’ve been waiting to hear the call. This
skewed idea has begun to occupy my mind and I can’t manage to clear it
from my head. I imagine a booming voice that will suddenly call me by
name and set out a clear plan for my life. After that point, every
detail will be laid out and I will know exactly what I ought to do in
every single situation.
Seems a bit ignorant, huh? But, yet it
sure would make life easier. I’ve developed a longing; I’m sure much
like those who want to be involved in ministry. I have a desire to do
more and more for the Lord, and as I’ve been striving to do so I’ve
failed to discover what it is exactly I need to do in the long run. So,
what do I do at this point?
I’m approaching a time in my life where
I need to make some big decisions. Beginning my senior year in high
school means applying to colleges and making a plan, which ultimately
leads to my constant prayer of “Lord show me what I need to do.”
As Apostolic girls we want to
incorporate our relationship with God into the things that will make us
Apostolic women. So, we wait for the call.
It’s possible, that God will call out
your name and reveal what the plan for your life is. It may be as you
pray in the altar, or it may be when you pray in the silence of your
room. On the other hand God might reveal it to you through a song, or
through the sight of something magnificent.
I desire to hear the call, and be
confident in my decisions. But I do know that whether I hear it
tomorrow, or I hear it in a year it is still my responsibility and
ambition to strive towards excellence in the work of the Lord.
Ephesians 1: 16-23 says
16Cease
not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17That
the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you
the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18The
eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is
the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his
inheritance in the saints,
19And
what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe,
according to the working of his mighty power,
20Which
he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at
his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21Far
above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every
name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to
come:
22And
hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all
things to the church,
23Which
is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.
As an
Apostolic girl, writing to an audience of Apostolic girls I have a bit
of advice, if you want to hear the call and all you’ve been doing
is waiting for the call; try striving towards the call. To
be used by the creator of this universe would be quite the prestigious
title, don’t you think?
So,
with all my heart I encourage you to be the musician who plays for the
King, be the doctor who boasts of the Healer, and be the preacher who
tells of His greatness.
Be the
Apostolic women who heard the call.
