Job was a man in the
Bible who was truly put to the test. Everything he had was at one
point taken from him, yet he never cursed God. He stayed faithful
and true.
There was a point however, when Job did become weary and frustrated.
In Job chapter 30:20, I read where he questioned God, saying "I cry
unto thee, and thou doest not hear me: I stand up, and thou
regardest me not." We tend to think of Job as a solid rock never
budging when the hard blows hit him. But he was indeed human! He
wasn't perfect. He did grow tired in his spirit.
Job continued
throughout chapter 30 and 31, basically saying... Aren't I a good guy?
Hasn't God seen my footsteps? Why then, am I in this situation?
It is then that God
answers in chapter 38-41 and asks Job questions, like "Where were
you when I laid the foundations of the earth?" In other words, "Do
you honestly think you know as much as I?" You weren't here when I
created the world, you don't know the many things I have in my
power. Even small things, like where the ocean waves stop on the
shore!
This opened Job's
eyes to see what God was trying to say. Job realized that with his
human knowledge and eyes, he could not even begin to comprehend the
infinite amount of things that God alone knows and controls.
It's the same in
our lives. There are situations and things that God controls of
which was have no clue! We can't even begin to fully know the realm
in which God operates!
So when you find
yourself in a storm and you cry out to God in frustration..."Why me?
Why are you allowing me to go through this?" Just remember the words
he spoke to Job. We don't understand...but He does. We don't see the
big picture...but He does. That's where faith comes in. Trust God.
Trust in the things that we can't see...but He alone can. |
